I.T. Specialist

  • Serves as a networked-server system administrator and provides customer support for the internal networks. Installs, configures, and maintains network operations and network security, setup workstations and peripherals, installs hardware, software, and computer networking devices.
  • Provide video teleconferencing (VTC) support to include VTC operations, applications, training, and administration by operating the video teleconferencing facility in compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and regulations. Coordinates VTC user training to promote the use of the VTC facilities; to explain VTC capabilities, guidelines, and protocols; and to advise customers on the required process and procedures.
  • Lead the USARJ exercise helpdesk for the annual bilateral command post exercise “Yama Sakura”. Responsible for the creation of user accounts, developing layouts, installing hardware, receiving and delegating trouble tickets,
  • Provide 24/7 on-site technical support for all non-secure and secure communication devices, associated COMSEC, and other classified and unclassified information technology assets such as routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, scanners, digital senders, KVMs, STE phones, radios, operating system software, application software, etc.
  • Participated as primary systems administrator in the upgrade of CENTRIXS-JPN physical infrastructure to a thin client infrastructure. Specifically, worked side by side with the Multinational Information Sharing (MNIS) contracting team to deploy IP based voice, video, and data services to the Command Center spaces. The resulting infrastructure significantly improved the reliability and quality of CENTRIXS-JPN services to the USARJ staff and allows for seamless extension of the network services to exercise locations as well as eliminated some of USARJ’s Continuity of Operations Plan gaps.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the U.S. Army Japan Command and Operations Center and Emergency Action Center I.T. assets to include; 310 workstations, 12 VTC systems, tactical and radio systems, 100 thin-clients, Defense Red Switch Network, as well as printers, VOIP phones, fax machines and all-in-one devices spread across multiple enclaves resulting in 100% uptime of mission critical systems.

  • Operated, maintained and administrated servers and workstations that provided services such as file services, application services, database services, and related data processing and storage systems operating on both Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET).
  • Utilized System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and remote services to maintain the most up to date Windows Operating System, application and patch deployments in compliance with Army standard configurations and Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs), resulting in one of the Army’s highest network security ratings.

Network Operations Watch Officer

  • Provided Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) technical assistance and system administration services needed to support over 4600 users utilizing LAN/WAN based systems to perform data processing, records management and Electronic Mail functions.
  • Monitored the U.S. Army Pacific network across Honshu, Okinawa and Guam for network and system outages and errors by utilizing CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager, resulting in a 99% network uptime.
  • Provided first-level technical support for the U.S. Army Pacific IT infrastructure supporting 4,600+ users throughout Honshu, Okinawa and Guam. Troubleshot hardware, software and connectivity issues for a mixed Unix, Windows XP, Vista, 7, Server 2008/2008 R2 and mainframe environment.
